Academic Boot Camp

KC Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) is offering a FREE online Boot Camp to prepare veterans to start back to school.

  • Do you want to quickly knock the rust off of your math skills?
  • Do you need to brush up on writing essays?
  • Do you want to learn strategies for success during the first week of school and beyond?
  • Are you having a hard time deciding what you want your major to be?

If so, then the VUB Academic Boot Camp might be right for you!

The Academic Boot Camp is a short-term, fast-paced, veteran friendly set of online courses that focus on assisting veterans in preparing to return to the school/program of their choice. The emphasis will be on preparation for lower-level mathematics and language arts classes and strategies for success in school. Other courses (higher level mathematics, science, upper level language arts, financial literacy, and much more) are also available, so please contact us if you would like to have a set of courses tailored to your specific needs.

Who:   Veterans planning on enrolling in any school (college, community college, or technical school) anytime in 2019 or 2020.

Apply now! The Boot Camp will run from April 1st to August 31st, 2019. You can start anytime during that period, but please allow yourself enough time to complete the activities by August 31st.

How to apply:
  1. Complete the Boot Camp registration at https://vub.ku.edu/academic-boot-camp-registration. Once you have completed the online application, please submit it by clicking the 'submit' button.
  2. Complete the VUB application at https://vub.ku.edu/vub-application.
  3. When we receive your registration form and VUB application, a VUB staff member will call or email you with information about accessing the FREE online courses.

The Academic Boot Camp is absolutely FREE and can even provide $40* per month to help defray any costs, but hurry because seats are limited!
